Supercross Opening Round To Be Televised

Anaheim 1 to be shown live on SPEED as AMA Supercross leaves the gate.
December 21, 2007

US - It's the most wonderful time of the year: AMA Supercross is coming. Better yet, this season you can see the much-anticipated opening round in Anaheim live on SPEED TV.

The opening round of 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, from Anaheim's Angel Stadium will be broadcast live on SPEED Saturday, January 5, from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Pacific time.

"We're really excited about the start of the 2008 Monster Energy Supercross season," said Rick Miner, SPEED SVP of Production & Operations. "Anaheim 1 is special race, and is a great way to kick off the 2008 racing season on SPEED. This is one of those ‘must see' events on any racing calendar."

The returning television team from last year, including pit reporter Erin Bates, color analyst Jeff Emig and play-by-play host Ralph Sheheen, will cover the action. Bates is a veteran in two-wheel motorsports, beginning her Supercross announcing career first as a live event announcer for Supercross in 2004, before making her Supercross television debut in 2006 as a pit reporter. A former AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross champion, Jeff Emig began his full-time television career last year. Sheheen, who has a rich background in motorsports experience, has covered a variety of motorsports programming for SPEED.

"This year's racing is expected to be second to none," said Todd Jendro, senior director of Supercross for Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc. "Live television coverage on SPEED will capture the first chapter of this incredible season. It's going to be interesting to see which riders have done their homework in the off- season to challenge reigning AMA Supercross class champion James Stewart."

The opening round from Anaheim sets the stage for the championship points race in the premier AMA Supercross class and the Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites class.
